Crap,i've been having sudden piercing pain on my chest lately,actually i've been stuck with this for about 2years already,just that lately its been much worst,sometimes till the extend of not being able to breathe for a few seconds : (, i just hope i can still do sports.

well,i've been thinking..maybe its due to stress,i've heard that your muscle around the chest area contracts due to stress or something(not sure :/), i doubt its anything related to my heart of my lungs(well,i hope so though, lol)

Sigh,guess i gotta head to Singapore General Hospital and do a check up about this while doing my physio therapy there.

Appearance
The breed stands 64 to 70 cm at the shoulders. Females weigh anywhere from 34-50kg. Males are 34-54kg. The Akita Inu come in only five colours: Red, Fawn, Sesame, Brindle, and Pure White. All except white must have whitish hair on the sides of the muzzle, on the cheeks, the neck, chest, body and tail. Black masks, as seen in the American Akita, are not permitted in the Japanese Akita Inu.

All colors are accepted in the American Akita. The Pinto color is not accepted as a Japanese Akita color, but is as an American Akita color. In the U.S., some breeders interbreed the original Japanese type with the heavier American type, which is larger, and allows more colors. It is felt by some that combining the two types leads to improved appearance and genetic health by increasing genetic diversity. In the United States, there is only a single Akita breed registered by the American Kennel Club, whereas they are separated into two breeds in every other country in the world except Canada. In all other countries the breed has been separated into two breeds: the Akita Inu and the American Akita. However, the American Akita is seen by some American breeders as being a different breed than the Japanese and these breeders advocate a splitting of the one breed into two.

Akitas possess a double coat, with a dense straight undercoat, and a thick outer coat. This coat makes the dog waterproof, as well as being well-equipped for the fierce winters in northern Japan. Due to the thickness of their coat, the breed requires daily grooming, and also an awareness of the dog's heavy shedding, especially during warm weather.

The Japanese Akita Inu is a loyal, docile and aloof. They are well known for being excellent house dogs, they are clean and quiet, only barking when there is something to bark about. In general they are very friendly and easy going dogs.

Health Mortality
Akitas in UK and USA/Canada surveys had a median lifespan of about 10 years, which is similar to other breeds of their size.
In a 2004 UK Kennel Club survey, the most common causes of death were cancer (32%), cardiac (14%), and gastrointestinal, including bloat/torsion (14%).In a 2000-2001 USA/Canada Health Survey, the most common causes of death were cancer (21%), GDV (=bloat/torsion, 21%), musculoskeletal (15.5%), and autoimmune (7%).

Morbidity
Some of the health conditions known to affect this breed include:

Canine herpesvirus, a strain of the Herpes virus that happens to affect canines
Gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV), a condition associated with bloat
Pemphigus, which causes the autoimmune system to attack the dog's skin (leading to pustules)
Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), an adult-onset condition which gradual degeneration in the eye cells (i.e. rods & cones)
UveoDermatological Syndrome (UDS)
Sebaceous adenitis, an autoimmune condition which attacks and destroys the dog's sebaceous glands
Canine Hip Dysplasia
Hypothyroidism
Hyperkalaemia As a breed, Akitas have abnormally high blood potassium concentrations compared to other breeds.
Heart size As a breed, Akitas have an unusually small heart for their size. A number of Akitas have died while being operated, due to the use of a normal dose of general anaesthetic for a canine of that size, a dose which ultimately proved excessive and fatal to the Akita. For that reason, to avoid anaesthetic-induced death, only the bare minimum dose of general anaesthetic sufficient to produce anaesthesia should be used when an Akita requires general anaesthesia.

Gastric Dilatation Volvulus
Akita owners should take special note of the high incidence of GDV (Gastric dilatation volvulus) in this breed. Excess gas trapped in the dog's stomach causes "bloat." Twisting of the stomach (volvulus or "torsion") causes or is caused by excess gas. GDV is an emergency condition requiring immediate veterinary treatment. Akita owners should be alert to the symptoms of GDV and know the location of the nearest emergency veterinary facility.

History
The Akita's ancestors were dogs used by matagi for hunting. These dogs, usually called matagi inu, were not as large as modern Akita dogs. Many of these dogs were used as guard dogs. Many were used to guard the emperor and his children. They were also used for hunting bears, usually trained as mated pairs, with a pair of eagles. The two dogs would attack the bear as it was distracted by the eagles in the air. As a result of this hunting, hundreds of akita dogs were killed by the 120 stone yezo bears which they were commonly used to hold at bay.
Recent DNA analysis found that the Akita was among the most ancient dog breeds.

Edo Period
In the Edo Period, Dewa Province (present-day Akita prefecture) was ruled by the Satake clan. Since the Satake were tozama daimyo (considered potentially rebellious), they received severe restrictions by the Tokugawa Shogunate in all military areas. The clan decided to encourage dog fighting around 1630 in order to make it possible for the samurai to retain their aggressive edge in a way that would not offend the shogunate. Dog fighting became especially popular in the Odate area. Dog fighting enthusiasts in the area began to interbreed matagi inu with dogs indigenous to the area. These dogs, which later turned into the Akita, were called Odate inu at that time.

Before World War II
After the Meiji Restoration, people began to breed Akita with many dogs from other regions in Japan, such as the Tosa. The Meiji Restoration also ended Japan's closed door policy, and large, western dogs began to enter Japan. As a result, Akita were also bred with German Shepherds, Great Danes, and Mastiffs. This resulted in the breed losing many of its spitz-like characteristics. Akita were later bred with Hokkaido and Karafuto dogs (also known as the Sakhalin Husky), which were introduced to mainland Japan after the First Sino-Japanese War.
In the Taisho Period, people such as the mayor of Odate Town began a movement to preserve the Akita breed. By this time, the Akita had begun to turn into a mixed breed as a result of excessive breeding with other dogs. Watase Shozaburo, a Japanese zoologist that successfully proposed the Law for Protection of Natural Monuments (天然記念物保護法) also worked towards preserving the Akita breed. As a result, the Akitainu Introduction Foundation (秋田犬保存会) was created in May 1927 by the mayor of Odate, and nine Akita dogs were designated as natural monuments in 1931. In 1932, the faithful Akita dog Hachikō was featured in an article in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper, which contributed to the popularity of the breed. When Helen Keller visited Akita prefecture in 1937, she expressed that she would like to have an Akita dog. An Akita called Kamikaze-go was given to her within a month. When Kamikaze-go later died because of canine distemper, his brother, Kenzan-go, was promptly sent to her. By 1938 a breed standard had been established and dog shows had been held, but such activities stopped after World War II began.

The War and its aftermath
During World War II, the number of Akita dogs greatly diminished because of the lack of food. There were also orders to capture all dogs except German Shepherds in order to use their fur for warm army uniforms. Many people bred Akita with Alsatians to avoid capture. When the war ended in 1945, there were fewer than twenty purebred Akita dogs in Japan.
However, the Akita became quite popular during the postwar period. Many occupation soldiers liked the Akita, because it was by far the largest Japanese dog. The fact that Helen Keller had an Akita also became well-known when she came to Japan in 1948 and thanked people in Akita for the dogs she was given. Most of the Akita dogs at this time had many German Shepherd-like characteristics. These dogs are currently known as Dewa line, or Dewa type Akita.

I saw this poster at golden village about called ''HACHI'' it has the same storyline as the japanese movie ''Hachiko monogatari''. The dog in this story is a Akita Inu(a japanese breed) (the storyline is at the end of the post).

today's awesome!i know i am not the 8 that got selected,but i was happy i got to see really good players,tall,agile,accurate players,players that i should learn from,and i didnt regret.

New schedule, going to practice 100 3 points shots made, hook shots,left and right, floaters,tear drops, one legged shots.From 7am to 9am .every morning. ,11.30am~ 3pm,head to gym to do both physio and training.Reach home,take a nap, Study study study,till 9pm, 9pm~10.30pm practice guitar.

I honestly hate to see people suffering or sad.Sometimes i wished i had all the power in the world to make people lives better..but sadly i don't,sometimes i feel helpless,when i can't save my friends from joining gangs,going boys home or doing anything harmful to themselves,i did try..but maybe i wasn't good enough to prevent this..I have no idea why i am like this,but i often go all out in helping people.

I find myself a mystery at times,Why do i feel sorry for someone who is a total stranger,why do i want to help people who people believe is of no hope.Why is it i would give me lunch money to a poor beggar on the streets,why why why.Am i really that afraid of seeing people sad?I don't know if its just me, but i feel people sadness sometimes just by looking at their eyes,body language or their speech.But i do have the capability to help some of them,some are family problems,environment in a different school as me,i wished i could help..but at most times all i could do is offer a listening ear,if its financial maybe i can help a little ,what use am i if i cannot even prevent things from happening. Gah.

I believe, every human deserves a second chance,Some people act differently cause maybe they come from broken families,or whatever reasons,they lack this love and its because of that,they desperately try to find something to fill that hole in the heart inside them,its only natural,we're imperfect beings.That is why they need acknowledgements.

I wished we live in a world where everyone truly understands each other..

often i wonder,why is it i worked so hard for?
One example,basketball,i put in so much effort till my body isn't able to keep up with daily routines or aching back /leg here and there.But where am i now?i am no national player,no adidas player.
is this life's cruel sick joke of telling me that ,everything i do seems to go down the drain?

I do the extreme, i wear weights to school daily,i read basketball book daily,always watch matches,wake up at 5.30am ,head to school by 6.20am,before school starts just to practice my shots,carry a ball with me when i goto school and make sure i dribble on my way to school, most of the time i dribble in school too,watch videos again and again,take down notes,sleep with my basketball,and before i goto bed i make sure i memorise everything about shooting.I took up any sports possible that could help me in basketball whether its footwork,physical or mentally.

I've sacrifised so much..just to find out i am still nothing?Its really unfair.. this has always been in my mind for 3years.well to make things worst i started basketball late,went to a screwed up secondary school (geylang methodist secondary school)which close down ccas just to build their new school.

Just like basketball..all i've ever asked for was..just a shot in life.just one chance.
And great, my body is too sickly and damaged to do anything.I have to go for physio for one and half years for both back and knees.My knee caps are out of place,It has squeeky sound, i wake up everyday with aching backs,feeling really lethargic,sometimes i limp or feel really sharp pain here and there,and all for the cost of what?Basketball..Do i honestly deserve such fate?I trained my butts off,I did frog jump,everyday,did fireman lifts everyday,till several jumping drills,that's why my leg became like this,I dribble my basketball during my recess time,train when i have free period,read books when i am absolutely doing nothing.I am not discriminating anyone but..there are gangsters who barely worked hard,infact they don't.tatoos all over,and stuff,but they get a chance to play don't they,they receive acknowledgements?I haven't once,received any.So what if i am the fastest guy on the court at most times,or gives hard defense.I am just a guy who stands 166cm tall,whose on the verge of being a handicap and still no where in life.

Its sad to say..so many people..have no idea how blessed they are,to be in a basketball school since young,get to wear jersey in which they dont even give a damn about.

Well this is just basketball itself,theres are a few more but maybe this takes of 1/8 of the burden in my mind..I swear man i feel so childish ranting about this in my blog.makes me feel like i am a 2year old.

Lately, things are..going against me.Well i should look on the bright side,obstacles are there so that we can step out of our comfort zone and i guess its a challenge for me.

I guess whether we are joyful people or depressed people comes from the message we tell ourselves daily.For example,If i take a shot,and i didn't score, there are two ways to look at it,

1.i shot it good,it just didn't go in
2.damn it! ar what the %$@%@$,that shot was dumb,argh i screwed up!*hurls vulgarities(well
this is the normal reaction for most case.)

I need to seriously start pulling up my grades up for both combines humanities and combine sciences or else i will six feet under by the time O level begins -_-.

As for basketball,since i have to stop it due to medical conditions,i guess i will just concentrate on training my upper body and ball handling(weights included) ,I thought of some awesome drills, and can't wait to try them out! yeep yeep yippie!.

Procrastination.

Procrastination and the resulting frustration it causes can be a problem in business, as well as life. The main reason we end up postponing duties or tasks is simply because we don’t enjoy doing them. However, there are some simple things you can do to avoid falling into the procrastination trap.

It is always helpful to define what goals need to be obtained. Once you know the desired outcome, determine what you need to do to make it happen. Then create a realistic deadline. After the goal is defined and the time line established, you need to set priorities and establish an achievable deadline for each necessary activity. If needed, subdivide larger tasks into smaller more doable actions. Complete each task prior to moving on to the next.

Getting started is always the hardest part. It’s easier if you start with the smaller tasks first. You’ll gain needed reinforcement each time you complete one of these tasks. Creating visible reminders like lists or notes and displaying them where they are easily viewed will help you maintain focus. Making commitments can be very inspiring. Tell someone (spouse, friend, coach, etc.) when you expect to complete a task and ask them to hold you to it.

Anyone watched the movie the curious case of benjamin button?Only one word i will use to describe it,Awesome!haha i even teared while watching it,the story plot is almost flawless in my point of view and same goes for the movie.I so want to get the book! But sadly i can not find it in any of the book stalls..probarbly it was publish a long time ago?

anyone watched 10 Promises to My Dog (犬と私の10の約束, Inu to Watashi no 10 no Yakusoku)?
Actually in my opinion its a really nice movie,you don't have to be a dog lover to love it though.

synopsis:

One day a puppy comes to the house of Akari, who has just turned twelve, and was trying hard to act strong after her mother suddenly fell ill. She immediately falls in love with the puppy and names it "Socks" after the paws which looked like they had white socks on. Akari was together with Socks day and night. Wherever Akari would go, Socks will follow. Akari would take care of Socks, and also Socks heeled Akari's sadness to recover from her mother's death. However, as Akari grows up, her feelings and interest moves away from Socks. Year by year, their distance grows, which also leads to her physical distance as she moves to a far off city, and must leave Socks behind to a childhood friend. One day Akari remembers the 10 promises that she had made with Socks (and her mother)..
